National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.
What is a Safety Stand-Down?
A stand-down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety and reinforce the importance of PPE. Employers of companies not exposed to fall hazards can also participate by discussing the importance of other PPE. This stand-down can also be an opportunity for employees to talk to management about job hazards they see.
OSHA recognizes that incidents involving falls are generally complex events, frequently involving a variety of factors. OSHA states "consequently, the standard for fall protection deals with both the human and equipment-related issues in protecting workers from fall hazards".
