What is SCA?

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is an abrupt loss of heart function, stopping the blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. If not treated immediately, SCAs typically cause death. One way to respond to SCAs is the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). AEDs can be used by anybody; by quickly shocking the heart you can save someone’s life who is experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, while we learn more about the virus’s effect on the body, AEDs may be more important now than ever during today’s troubling times. Employees could be more prone to cardiac arrests due to COVID-19.

AED’s guide the rescuer by prompting them how to use the device if the need arises. After deployment, they also continue to monitor the victim, providing the user with data on the injured party.
